The ghosts of our grandmothers’ stories, the ones from load-shedding nights and ঠাকুরমার ঝুলি, have stopped waiting for the dark. On the morning of 31 October, eight of them return in broad daylight at Jatra Biroti, and you’re invited to meet every one.

This is a Bengali folk-horror picnic, not a fright night. Expect fourteen earthen প্রদীপ burning at noon under white cloth, a market that runs on haggling, brides who sit a little too still, fortunes written on palm leaves, and a voice that might call your name across the courtyard. House rule: don’t answer.

Every guest receives a Ghost Book at the gate. Eight spirits are loose on the grounds, each carrying their own seal. Find them all, fill your book, and leave with something to remember them by. The book goes home with you either way.
