Bangkok Poetry Slam is presented by Bangkok Lyrical Lunacy (Lyrical Lunacy). The event takes place at The Royal Oak, located at 595/10 Soi Sukhumvit 33/1, Watthana, Bangkok, 10110, Thailand, in the venue's Live Lounge. This is a recurring event with multiple sessions running from August to October 2026. DJ Sticky Keys will be playing music from 7pm, and the slam begins at 8pm. The evening typically ends around 10:30pm. Entry is 300 THB for both poets and spectators. Poet registration deadline is 7:30 PM. After booking a ticket, poets must claim their slot by DMing @lyricallunacy or emailing [email protected]. Limited spots are available. What is a Poetry Slam? Experience the dynamic blend of writing and performance in a modern and competitive art form. Poets showcase their original works, judged on a scale of 1 to 10 for content and performance. The highest and lowest scores are discarded, leaving the essence of the poet's art. What is Spoken Word Poetry? It is an immersive performance of original works spanning diverse themes, and a potent form of creative expression that provides a resonant platform for voices to be heard. Who Can Enter the Slam? The stage is open to all – from aspiring poets to seasoned wordsmiths, amateurs to professionals. Poetry Slam Rules + Format: - Prize: 1,000 THB cash - No buy-in to compete, just 300 THB cover for entry - No props or costumes allowed - No music or crowd participation - Time penalty enforced - Only original pieces allowed - 2 rounds: 1st round hosts up to 8 poets; top 5 advance
